When the original
MK Cafe Rouge opened opposite The National Hockey Stadium some years ago,
it was welcomed as a good example of a chain eatery. Sadly, the standards
declined over the following years, along with custom, until it closed. The
new incarnation in CBX3 will not suffer a similar fate, since its
standards are so low already it surely can't decline.
A group of about 10 of us decided to have lunch one Friday,
and Cafe Rouge was decided upon. Mistake.
The restaurant was only half full and they seated our
group easily. Drinks were ordered along with two courses from the prixe
fixe menu; a main course and dessert. Drinks took about a quarter of an
hour to arrive. The main course was 50 minutes later. Over an hour to
deliver lunch. After this wait, the food could have been Gordon Ramsey
quality and I wouldn't have enjoyed it. The best I can say for my dish was
that it was far below that standard. Just about edible. During this period I tried to get
another drink, without success. After another long wait I was informed
that the Creme Brulee I had ordered was unavailable - one and a
half hours after the order was placed they realised that they didn't have
any. I didn't bother with dessert and
left. Never to return.
Another Tragus travesty. |
