Supper Club date 29/10/11:

And so the saga begins....

I've been watching the growth of the Supper Club phenomenon for some time and have been waiting for someone in the Milton Keynes area to start one. I've now run out of patience and have decided to wait no more and jump in myself. Whether that's a good idea or not only time will tell.

Along with 15 others, I spent a day in May in Kilburn organised by the wild, weird and always wonderful Ms Marmitelover – Kerstin Rodgers – one of the founders of the Supper Club or Underground Restaurant movement in the UK, learning about running one of these clubs from a number of speakers who are already participating. (see the blog). If you have not already done so, take a look at supperclubfangroup and register on the site. Those running local Supper Clubs can then contact you more easily.

I'll be keeping the first evening small. I plan just 8 seats at one table in my dining room. Not too cramped. I expect these to be taken by a mixed group of people so a desire to meet and interact with strangers would be good. On the other hand, if all you want to do is sit quietly with the occasional interjection of "Delicious", "Magnificent" or "Bravo" you will be very welcome. If this proves successful, I may take over my living room to offer more seats in the future. Still the one table since I think this more appropriate to the Supper Club concept. This is not a traditional restaurant, after all. Let's all get to know each other.

The evening will be taking place on Great Holm, Milton Keynes. Exact address will be provided after booking. Here is the provisional menu. Given that availability of game and wild food in general is not certain, this may be subject to change at short notice. Bring Your Own Booze:
